Bank of New Orleans

The Bank of New Orleans, originally established as the Greater New Orleans Homestead Association in 1909, has undergone several significant changes throughout its history. In 1993, the institution changed its name to Greater New Orleans Homestead, F.S.B., and modified its organizational structure to a mutual savings bank. It also transitioned its chartering agency to the Office of Thrift Supervision at that time. In 2007, the organization type was changed to a stock savings bank, and in 2000, it adopted the name Bank of New Orleans. On July 21, 2011, the bank changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. The Bank of New Orleans ultimately merged with Home Bank, National Association, based in Lafayette, Louisiana, on September 15, 2015, marking the end of its independent operations.
