History Of Bank of New Hampshire
The Bank of New Hampshire, originally established as Laconia Savings Bank on July 2, 1831, has undergone several name changes and organizational transformations throughout its history. In 1971, the institution changed its name to Laconia Savings Bank and relocated its main office to 62 Pleasant Street in Laconia, New Hampshire. In 1994, Laconia Savings Bank acquired HomeBank Federal Savings Association in Gilford, New Hampshire, as part of a government-assisted merger, and subsequently gained full trust powers in 1996. The bank transitioned to a Stock Savings Bank in 1998 and went through a series of acquisitions, including Village Bank & Trust Company in 2005 and Community Guaranty Savings Bank in Plymouth, New Hampshire, in 2016. On May 3, 2012, the institution officially changed its name to Bank of New Hampshire. Most recently, on April 5, 2022, the bank became a member of the Federal Reserve System, changing its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Reserve and its class to a state-chartered bank.
