The Bank of Mount Hope was established on August 14, 1914, in Danville, West Virginia, originally under the name The Bank of Danville. Over the years, the institution underwent several changes, including its name changing to Bank of Mt. Hope in 1990. On May 30, 1990, it officially became known as the Bank of Mount Hope. The bank relocated its main office several times, moving to 149 Smoot Avenue in Danville on April 20, 1990, and then to 602 Main Street in Mount Hope, West Virginia, on April 23, 1990. In January 1986, the bank was acquired by another institution. Ultimately, on October 1, 2019, the Bank of Mount Hope merged with Pendleton Community Bank, Inc., based in Franklin, West Virginia, marking the end of its independent operation.
