History Of Bank of Louisiana

The Bank of Louisiana was established on January 17, 1887, under the name Bank of Louisiana. Over the years, the institution underwent several name changes and charter modifications. In 1982, it became known as County Bank of Louisiana, and later in 1984, it changed its name to Commerce Bank of Louisiana. Following this, in 1985, the bank transitioned to a national charter and became Commerce Bank of Louisiana, National Association. It joined the Federal Reserve System the same year but withdrew from membership in 1988 when it changed its chartering agency to the state level. On July 18, 1988, the bank adopted its final name, Bank of Louisiana. The bank returned to the Federal Reserve System in February 1995. After more than a century of operation, on December 11, 2021, the Bank of Louisiana merged with Peoples Bank & Trust Company, located in Troy, Missouri, marking the end of its independent operations.
