Bank of Laverne was established on January 1, 1922, originally operating under the name The First National Bank of Laverne. Over the years, the institution underwent several significant changes. On June 1, 1993, it changed its name to Bank of Laverne, and this same date saw a shift in its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and a change in its chartering agency to state oversight. After relocating its main office to 11 East Jane Jayroe, Laverne, Oklahoma on February 23, 1990, Bank of Laverne continued to operate until it merged with Security State Bank, based in Cheyenne, Oklahoma, on August 15, 2020.
