The Bank of Jones County was established on September 21, 1998, and originally operated under that name. Over the years, the bank underwent several significant changes. On June 9, 1999, the main office was relocated to 1808 Highway 84 West in Laurel, Mississippi. The bank expanded its operations on December 7, 2000, when it transitioned its trust powers to a full-service institution and also moved its main office to the same address, albeit with a different postal code (39440). The Bank of Jones County continued to serve its community until it merged with First State Bank in Waynesboro, Mississippi, on January 2, 2015, becoming a part of this larger banking institution.
