Bank of Easton, established in 1889 under the name Easton Co-operative Bank, initially operated without Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) coverage. The institution underwent significant changes over the years, including its first major transformation in 1986 when it became FDIC insured. In 1991, the main office relocated to 275 Washington Street, North Easton, Massachusetts. In 2002, the bank rebranded as Bank of Easton, A Co-operative Bank. Further regulatory changes occurred in 2004 when the organization type was changed to a Cooperative Bank and it became a state-chartered bank, subsequently joining the Federal Reserve System.
