The Bank of Commerce is a financial institution that was established on May 2, 1985, originally operating under the same name. On the same day of its establishment, it acquired The Bank of Commerce in Chanute, Kansas. The institution underwent several significant changes, including becoming a member of the Federal Reserve System on March 5, 2004, and changing its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Reserve. As a result, it also changed its bank classification to that of a state-chartered bank and acquired full trust powers. In addition to these changes, the Bank of Commerce has expanded through acquisitions, purchasing the First State Bank of Thayer in February 2010, as well as multiple banks within Kansas, including Chetopa State Bank & Trust Co. and First Neodesha Bank in January 2020.
