The Bank of Commerce and Trust Company, originally established as The National Bank of Commerce of Wellington on October 6, 1906, has undergone several significant changes throughout its history. On November 1, 1977, the institution changed its name to Bank of Commerce and Trust Company and transitioned its chartering agency to state jurisdiction while withdrawing from membership in the Federal Reserve System. Subsequently, on July 17, 1978, the bank changed its trust powers to full status, which were later altered to none on December 9, 2002.
