The Bank of Castile was established on April 1, 1869, as a financial institution originally named The Bank of Castile. Over the years, it underwent several significant changes, including a relocation of its main office to Main Street in Castile, New York, on April 19, 1990, and then to a new address at 50 Main Street in Castile, New York, on June 1, 1993. On May 23, 1997, the bank changed its trust powers to full capacity. In a major transition, on January 1, 2022, The Bank of Castile changed its institution name to Tompkins Community Bank and merged with Tompkins Community Bank, which is headquartered in Ithaca, New York.
