The Bank of 1889, originally established on February 18, 1889, was first named The First National Bank of Berryville in Berryville, Arkansas. Over the years, the institution underwent several name changes, including a rebranding to The First National Bank of Berryville and Eureka Springs on March 26, 1990, followed by a change to The First National Bank of Berryville on December 10, 1991. The bank was renamed First National Bank of North Arkansas on September 1, 2011. On June 29, 2022, the bank changed its name again to Bank of 1889 and transitioned to a state-chartered bank that is a member of the Federal Reserve System, with the Primary Federal Regulatory Agency changing to the Federal Reserve.
