History Of Bank Midwest
Bank Midwest is a financial institution that was established in 1887 under the name First National Bank in Jackson. The institution underwent several significant changes over the decades, notably in 1990 when it changed its name to Bank Midwest, Minnesota Iowa, National Association. In 1991, its main office was relocated to Downtown Plaza in Fairmont, Minnesota. The bank continued to expand its presence through acquisitions, including the purchase of Bank Midwest, Minnesota Iowa, National Association in Fairmont, Minnesota, and Okoboji, Iowa, in 1991 and 1997, respectively. In 2000, it acquired Bank Midwest of Cottonwood County in Windom, Minnesota. A major overhaul occurred on July 1, 2008, when the bank rebranded itself as Bank Midwest, moved its main office to 1525 18th Street in Spirit Lake, Iowa, and updated its regulatory status to become a state-chartered bank and a member of the Federal Reserve System.
