Bangor Savings Bank is a financial institution that was established on February 14, 1852, originally under the name Bangor Savings Bank. Over the years, the bank has undergone several acquisitions and name changes that reflect its growth and expansion in the banking sector. In 1975, the institution changed its name to Bangor Savings Bank, which was again adopted in 1978 after a brief period of name modifications. Significant acquisitions include Eastport Savings Bank in 1977, Piscataquis Savings Bank in 1976, and Houlton Savings Bank in 1981. The bank adjusted its organizational structure in 2007, shifting to a stock savings bank and acquiring Pepperell Bank & Trust the same year. In subsequent years, Bangor Savings Bank expanded further by acquiring Granite Bank in Colebrook, New Hampshire, in 2018 and Damariscotta Bank & Trust in Damariscotta, Maine, in December 2020.
