Ascent Bank, originally established as First Security Bank of Helena on April 13, 1970, underwent a significant transformation over the years. On January 24, 1974, the institution became a member of the Federal Reserve System and changed its name to First Security Bank of Helena. Following changes in regulatory oversight, it withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System on November 25, 1993, and subsequently changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) on the same date.
