Over the years, the bank has undergone several changes, including multiple name changes and relocations of its main office. In 1996, the institution adopted its current name, Armstrong Bank. It has expanded its operations through various acquisitions, including Lake Country Bank in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma, in 1994; Sequoyah State Bank of Muldrow, Oklahoma, in 1991; and The Security Bank in Warner, Oklahoma, in 1988. The bank continued its growth by acquiring Benefit Bank in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on May 23, 2015, and Republic Bank & Trust in Norman, Oklahoma, on March 21, 2020.
