History Of Arkansas County Bank

Arkansas County Bank was established on April 12, 1912, originally operating under the name The First National Bank of De Witt. Over the years, the institution underwent several changes: on September 27, 2006, it rebranded as Arkansas County Bank and modified its regulatory status to become a state-chartered bank not affiliated with the Federal Reserve System. During the same period, it changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and withdrew from the Federal Reserve membership. In a significant move on January 3, 2007, Arkansas County Bank acquired First National Bank of Stuttgart, expanding its operations in Arkansas. On March 2, 2012, it transitioned to a state-chartered bank that became a member of the Federal Reserve System and changed its primary federal regulatory agency back to the Federal Reserve. The bank's history concluded when it merged with Southern Bancorp Bank based in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, on May 15, 2021.
