History Of Angelina Savings Bank
Angelina Savings Bank, originally established as Angelina Savings and Loan Association in 1978, has undergone several name and regulatory changes throughout its history. On April 4, 1994, the institution rebranded itself as Angelina Savings Bank, FSB, and transitioned to a stock savings bank type under the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS) as its primary federal regulatory agency. The main office was relocated to 1721 Tulane Drive, Lufkin, Texas, on the same day. In subsequent years, the institution changed its regulatory oversight from the OTS to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in July 2011. On July 16, 2012, the bank adopted its current name, Angelina Savings Bank, SSB, and shifted its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), becoming an FDIC Supervised State Savings Bank with state chartering authority.
