History Of AnchorBank

AnchorBank was established on January 1, 1918, originally operating under the name Anchor Savings and Loan Association. Over the years, the institution underwent several name changes and acquisitions, reflecting its growth and evolution in the banking sector. In 1990, AnchorBank expanded its operations by acquiring Viroqua Federal Savings and Loan Association, followed by the acquisition of Janesville Savings and Loan Association in 1981. The organization rebranded itself to AnchorBank, S.S.B. in 1992, coinciding with a move of its main office to 25 West Main Street in Madison, Wisconsin. This was followed by further acquisitions, including American Equity Bank, F.S.B. in 1995, Fox Cities Bank in 1999, and Ledger Bank, S.S.B. in 2001. In 2003, the institution changed its name to AnchorBank, F.S.B., and later to AnchorBank, fsb. By July 21, 2011, its primary federal regulatory agency was changed to The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. AnchorBank continued to grow through the acquisition of S & C Bank in 2008. However, the institution's history came to a significant conclusion on May 1, 2016, when it merged with Old National Bank in Evansville, Indiana.
