History Of Anchor Bank

Anchor Bank was established on May 15, 1923, under the name West Saint Paul State Bank. Over the ensuing decades, the institution underwent several name changes and relocations. In 1984, it became known as First Bank of Minnesota West St. Paul, before being renamed First National Bank of West St. Paul in 1986. During this period, the bank transitioned to a federal charter, becoming a member of the Federal Reserve System and changing its regulatory oversight to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. The name Anchor Bank, West St. Paul National Association was adopted in September 1996, followed by a rebranding to Anchor Bank St. Paul, National Association in December 2006. The bank expanded through the acquisition of several institutions, including Anchor Bank Heritage in Saint Paul, Anchor Bank Farmington, and Anchor Bank National Association in Wayzata, all on November 14, 2009. On January 28, 2008, it relocated its main office to 1570 Concordia Avenue in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Ultimately, on November 1, 2017, Anchor Bank merged with Old National Bank based in Evansville, Indiana.
