AMERICAN SAVINGS BANK

American Savings Bank was established in 1889 as the American Savings and Loan Association. Over the years, the institution underwent several name changes and organizational transformations. In 1989, the main office was relocated to 135 City Centre Mall in Middletown, Ohio. On March 22, 1996, it changed its name to The American Savings and Loan Association, and on August 1, 2000, it became known as American Savings Bank. The institution's regulatory framework evolved, with a significant change on July 21, 2011, when its primary federal regulatory agency was designated as the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Further reorganization occurred on January 1, 2018, when it transitioned to a mutual commercial bank and changed its classification to a state-chartered bank not a member of the Federal Reserve System. The main office was moved again to 701 North University Boulevard in Middletown, Ohio, on September 21, 1998. Ultimately, on August 30, 2019, American Savings Bank merged with Valley Central Bank, located in Liberty Township, Ohio, resulting in a change of the institution's name and organizational type to a stock savings and loan, as well as relocating the primary office to 6550 Princeton Glendale Road in Liberty Township.
