The American National Bank of Minnesota, originally established as CreditAmerica Lending and Thrift Company on May 1, 1983, began operations without FDIC insurance. The institution underwent several name and regulatory changes, rebranding as CreditAmerica Savings Company on August 13, 1986. The bank's main office was relocated multiple times within Brainerd, Minnesota. Significant changes occurred on August 1, 2001, when the bank changed its name to American National Bank of Minnesota and transitioned to a national bank, becoming a member of the Federal Reserve System and changing its primary federal regulatory agency to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. The main office moved again on June 4, 2001, to a new location on South Sixth Street in Brainerd.
