American National Bank, originally established as West Omaha National Bank on December 2, 1964, underwent several significant reforms and acquisitions throughout its history. On March 3, 1975, it changed its name to American National Bank and simultaneously moved its main office to 8990 West Dodge Road, Omaha, Nebraska, while also changing its trust powers to a full capacity. The bank continued to expand its reach through a series of acquisitions, including Heritage Federal Savings Bank of Omaha in November 1990, Northern Bank in Omaha in March 1994, and The Fairbury State Bank in Fairbury, Nebraska, in August 1998. In the late 1990s, the bank acquired multiple institutions, among them American National Bank of Sarpy County in Papillion, Nebraska, and American National Bank in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Further acquisitions included Peoples National Bank in Council Bluffs, Iowa, in February 2005, and more recently, Western Bank, National Association in Saint Paul, Minnesota, on September 1, 2015.
