Originally named American Momentum Bank, it made notable acquisitions to expand its presence in the banking sector. On January 9, 2009, the bank acquired Texas First Bank located in College Station, Texas. This was followed by the acquisition of LandMark Bank of Florida and Southshore Community Bank, both in Florida, on July 22, 2011, as part of a government-assisted merger. The bank continued its consolidation strategy by acquiring Brazos Valley Bank, National Association in College Station, Texas, on April 13, 2012.
