HISTORY OF AMERICAN EXPRESS NATIONAL BANK
American Express National Bank, originally established as Ilc Corporation on March 20, 1989, underwent a series of name changes and acquisitions throughout its history. On April 3, 1990, the institution was renamed American Express Resource Corporation, followed by a rebranding to American Express Deposit Corporation on March 1, 1994. The bank acquired Ids Deposit Corporation on the same day and relocated its main office to 6985 Union Park Center in Midvale, Utah. In July 1996, it further acquired American Express Centurion Bank, adopting that name. On August 28, 2009, the bank moved its main office to 4315 South 2700 West in Salt Lake City, Utah. A significant transformation occurred on April 1, 2018, when the institution changed its name to American Express National Bank after acquiring American Express Bank, Fsb, and became a national bank regulated by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
