American Bank of Freedom is a financial institution that has undergone several name changes and relocations since its establishment. It was originally founded on March 15, 1880, as the Bank of Wellsville. Subsequent to its founding, the bank moved its main office multiple times within Wellsville, Missouri, with notable relocations occurring on April 10, 1990, to 125 East Hudson Street and again on August 21, 2003, to 127 West Hudson Street. The institution changed its name to Bank of Montgomery County on March 25, 1996, and later became American Bank of Missouri on October 16, 2006. In a significant acquisition, American Bank of Missouri acquired Rochester State Bank located in Rochester, Illinois, on July 9, 2021. The main office was moved once more on November 10, 2022, to its current location at 106 East Hudson Street, Wellsville, Missouri. The institution adopted its current name, American Bank of Freedom, on October 16, 2023.
