History Of American Bank
American Bank, originally established under the name American Bank of Billings in 1983, has undergone several transformations throughout its history. The institution was initially located at 1325 Main Street in Billings, Montana, before relocating its main office to 1632 West Main Street in Bozeman, Montana, in December 1997. In the same month, it changed its name to American Bank of Montana. Throughout the early 1990s, American Bank expanded by acquiring several regional banks, including First Security Bank of Big Timber, InterWest Bank of Montana, and First Security Bank of Livingston on October 31, 1992. That day also marked its change of name back to American Bank and its membership in the Federal Reserve System on September 3, 1993. In 2004, the institution underwent another name change to American Bank. However, a significant shift occurred on September 15, 2016, when it withdrew from the Federal Reserve System, changed its regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and reclassified itself as a state-chartered bank not a member of the Federal Reserve System.
