Alterra Bank

Alterra Bank was established in 1892 under the name The Sylvan State Bank in Sylvan Grove, Kansas. The institution underwent several name changes and relocations throughout its history. In 1975, it withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System but subsequently became a member again in January 2001 when it changed its bank class to a state-chartered bank. In June 2001, the bank adopted the name 1st Financial Bank and moved its main office to Overland Park, Kansas. The bank later acquired Boonslick Bank in Boonville, Missouri, on May 24, 2001. In April 2010, the institution rebranded as Alterra Bank and relocated its main office to Leawood, Kansas, on July 10, 2013. Alterra Bank's history concluded on June 1, 2017, when it merged with First Business Bank based in Madison, Wisconsin.
