History Of ABC Bank

ABC Bank, originally established as the National Bank of Austin on June 10, 1891, underwent several name changes and structural modifications throughout its history. On July 2, 1979, the institution changed its name to Austin Bank of Chicago and transitioned its chartering agency to a state level while withdrawing from membership in the Federal Reserve System. In 1997, ABC Bank expanded its operations by acquiring Ashland State Bank located in Chicago, Illinois. The bank later changed its institution name to ABC Bank on June 1, 2012, and on August 30, 2006, it ceased its trust powers. In 2017, the main office was relocated to 6400 West North Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. Ultimately, on April 20, 2018, ABC Bank merged with Old Second National Bank, which is based in Aurora, Illinois, marking the end of its independent operations.
