History Of 1st Federal Savings Bank of SC
1st Federal Savings Bank of South Carolina, Inc. is a financial institution that was established on January 1, 1962, originally under the name First Federal Savings and Loan Association. Over the years, the bank has undergone several name changes and regulatory agency adjustments. On November 14, 1994, it changed its name to First Carolina Bank, Federal Savings Bank and transitioned to a stock savings bank. Subsequently, on January 15, 1997, the institution was renamed First Federal of South Carolina, FSB, and later that year, it relocated its main office to 300 Robertson Boulevard, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488. In 2011, the primary federal regulatory agency for the bank changed from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
