History Of 1st Constitution Bank
1st Constitution Bank was established on July 24, 1989, and originally operated under that name as a community bank. The institution experienced significant growth through acquisitions, notably acquiring Rumson-Fair Haven Bank and Trust Company in Rumson, New Jersey, on February 8, 2014, followed by the acquisition of New Jersey Community Bank in Freehold, New Jersey, on April 11, 2018. Subsequently, it acquired Shore Community Bank in Toms River, New Jersey, on November 8, 2019. On January 6, 2022, 1st Constitution Bank merged with Lakeland Bank in Newfoundland, New Jersey. The bank continued to operate until it merged again on May 16, 2024, becoming part of Provident Bank in Jersey City, New Jersey. The main office of 1st Constitution Bank was relocated to 2650 Route 130 in Cranbury, New Jersey, on March 2, 2007.
